The IAUC Latin America Electoral Committee is pleased to announce the official results of the election for the position of Latin America Regional Representative to the International Association for Urban Climate (IAUC).
Following the conclusion of the voting period, which was extended until February 6, 2026, to ensure broad participation of eligible members, the Electoral Committee convened on February 10, 2026, to validate and ratify the election results.
A total of 39 votes were registered. After verification procedures, 37 votes were considered valid according to the eligibility criteria established for the electoral process.
The final results are as follows:
- Flávia Noronha Dutra Ribeiro – 16 votes
- Natasha Picone – 12 votes
- Other candidates – 9 votes
- Blank votes – 0
- Null votes – 0
Based on the validated results, the Electoral Committee officially declares:
Flávia Noronha Dutra Ribeiro (University of São Paulo – USP, Brazil) elected as IAUC Latin America Regional Representative, serving a four-year term from March 2025 to March 2029.
The Electoral Committee thanks all candidates for their commitment and willingness to serve the IAUC community, as well as all members who participated in the voting process, contributing to a transparent and democratic election.
The Latin America Regional Representative plays an important role as a bridge between regional perspectives, needs, and initiatives and the broader IAUC community. However, the strength of the Latin American section ultimately depends on the active engagement of its members. The continued participation of researchers, practitioners, and students through collaborative networks, joint initiatives, and shared scientific efforts is essential to advancing urban climate research and practice across the region.
We therefore encourage all members to remain actively involved, strengthening regional cooperation and contributing collectively to the development of a vibrant and connected Latin American urban climate community within the IAUC.
