Session Description: This session will explore the critical interactions between urban development, weather, and climate change, focusing on solutions for sustainable city planning as extreme hazards become more frequent and intense. We welcome interdisciplinary contributions from researchers in urban climate, atmospheric science, data science, and climate change adaptation.
Topics include:
- Combined effects of global climate change and urban development on weather, air quality, and extreme events (heat, rain, wind).
- Advances in understanding urban meteorological processes (e.g., boundary layers, atmospheric circulation).
- Innovative methods using AI, machine learning, and digital twins.
- Compound and cascading urban weather hazards and their impacts.
- Design and social relevance of urban weather hazard warning systems.
